Privacy policy
Street Economics® and the Street Economics app · effective 9 October 2026
The short version: the site and the app are pages. They do not track you across apps or sites, they carry no analytics or advertising software, and they never ask for your location. The only personal information we ever hold is the email address you give us if you sign in for the Street Economics Pass, and what Stripe tells us about a pass you paid for.
Who we are
Street Economics® is published by BusinessFlare®, a veteran-owned firm in Florida. Questions about this policy or about your information go to kevin@businessflare.net.
What the site and the app are
streeteconomics.com and the other Street Economics sites are served by Netlify. The Street Economics app for Android and iOS shows the same Street Economics content as those sites and nothing else. The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking software of its own, and it asks for no device permissions beyond network access. It does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
What is collected
- Server logs. Netlify, which hosts the pages and runs the account service, keeps ordinary web server logs for each request: the address requested, the time, your IP address and your browser's identification string. These are used for security and to keep the service running, and are retained by Netlify for a limited period.
- Your email address, if you sign in. The Street Economics Pass signs you in with a one-time link sent to the email address you type. We keep that address, whether a pass is active for it, the organization licence covering it if there is one, and, for a complimentary pass, the label and expiry we gave it. Nothing else about you is recorded.
- Payment, through Stripe. A pass bought by card is paid through Stripe Checkout, and billing is managed on Stripe's customer portal. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us. Stripe tells us the email address you gave it and the status of the subscription, which is what decides whether the pass is active. Stripe's own policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- Your session, on your device. When you sign in, a signed session token is stored in your browser's storage on each Street Economics site you use, and nothing else. Signing out removes it. Clearing the site's data in your browser, or uninstalling the app, removes it too.
What is not collected
- No analytics or advertising software runs in the app or on the pages, and no advertising identifier is read.
- No location is requested or used.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No personal information is sold, rented or shared for marketing.
Services that handle data on our behalf
- Netlify hosts the pages, runs the account service and stores the account records above, in the United States.
- Stripe processes payments and holds the billing relationship for a paid pass.
- Resend delivers the sign-in emails when email sign-in is switched on; it receives your email address and the link.
Some data pages embed maps drawn with tiles from Mapbox and Esri (ArcGIS Online), and some embed a BusinessFlare® GIS map. Loading those tiles sends your IP address to the tile provider, as loading any image from another server does. Links on the hub open other sites, including YouTube and LinkedIn, each with its own policy.
Offline copies
The app and the site keep a copy of recently visited pages on your device so they open quickly and work when the connection drops. That copy stays on your device and is cleared when you clear the site's data or uninstall the app.
How long we keep things
Account records are kept while a pass is active and for a reasonable period after it ends, so a returning reader can sign in again. Server logs are kept by Netlify for a limited period. Ask and we delete your account records.
Your choices
You can use every free page without signing in. You can sign out at any time, and you can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about your email address or to delete it. Cancelling a paid pass is done on Stripe's customer portal, reached from the pass page.
Children
The site and the app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with its effective date.
